A Work, Revisited.
So, I re-did one of my first pictures, because I wasn’t really happy with the way it turned out the first time around. After playing around and learning more about Photoshop, I decided to re-ink the sketch and I think it came out much better this time around. Click to Biggie Size it.
Let’s see…let’s see…not a whole lot has been happening. I’ve been working on a bunch of little projects on the ship, including a structured IT training program designed to round out our knowledge base. A little while back we crossed the point where the battle of Midway occurred, and to commemorate, they held a display of air power. While costing taxpayers rediculous amounts of money, it was a pretty neat display of air superiority. They had our helicopters launch a couple of missile salvos, then drop markers for the F-18 Super Hornets to tag with their bombs. Then the F-18 pilots did a bunch of stunts and maneuvers, which included a few sonic booms, high speed banking, low-speed manuevers, and the impressive inverted whisper run, where the jet almost becomes completely silent while flying upside down. I was pretty stoked after seeing all that. I’ll post the pictures soon.
So, we went ahead and reserved everything for Hong Kong. For $80, I get to stay in a five-star hotel, take a tour to some of the most beautiful parts of Hong Kong, do all the electronics shopping I could possibly want (read: SLR digital camera), take lots of pictures, and get to visit some of the finest diners in China. Does it get any better than that? I think not.
Cruise isn’t bad in and of istelf; it’s the people that make it a festering wound on your psyche. For some reason, everyone above you wants to be in your business and control any aspect of your miserable little existance on the boat as they can. I think it has something to do with being couped up for weeks on end with the same people, and the shocking lack of privacy on board. Either way, I’ve been forced to pre-emptively counter this by creating several projects to tackle so I at least have an excuse to be busy. I don’t mind being legitamately busy, but when people try and give you menial tasks just to keep you busy, yeah…I take issue with that. As of right now it’s, “Sorry, I can’t do that. I’m caught up with this, and this, and this….” Let’s hope that works for the rest of cruise!
Anywho, I think after this port visit things will change. Most of our port visits for the next few months are basically back to back to back, so that will give everyone a chance to blow off a lot of pent up steam. I’m certainly looking forward to it!
Til next time,
