I really was big in Japan. Most people there are a lot shorter than me (more so than most other countries). Regrettably, I only got to spend a day out in Japan due to illness, but here are some of the highlights:

• Ate some authentic Japanese cuisine
• Saw various Buddhist temples and shrines
• Toured the beautiful islands of Japan that surround Sasebo
• Gazed at the horizon dotted by Japanese islands from atop a mountain
• Conversed with some locals (often to much humor - probably at my expense)

Yes! Today is the nationally recognized day where we celebrate dissension and rebellion! Hooray freedom! I encourage any one and everyone to go out, have a rousing, boisterous time, and blow up as much stuff as possible. It’s against the law? Well, I believe there were certain laws in place when we were ruled by the British, and that didn’t stop us from getting our point across, did it?

So please, I beg you, celebrate and rejoice in your right to freedom! Celebrate for those who now fight to defend your freedom across the world. Celebrate for those who have sacrificed their personal freedoms, sacrificed their time with their family and loved ones, and sacrificed their lives to give you the liberties that you enjoy each and every day. Celebrate for those who don’t have a chance to partake in festivities and are without the comfort of their family and friends. Celebrate for those who are held prisoner overseas, and pray that they come home soon and safely. Celebrate for those families who’s soldiers are never coming home. Celebrate their gift to us: defending the hope of a continuing freedom and liberty to all those who deserve it.

I promised some folks some pictures, so here they are. Some adventures whilst in the middle of the ocean. The birds are (in order) F/18 Super Hornet, E-2 Hawkeye (X2), a Prowler, and an S/H-60 helo launching some flares. Sorry for the picture quality, they were far away and I was using a point-n-shoot courtesy of my friend Pete.

Expect some killer shots after I get to Hong Kong. (I plan on getting a nice camera while I’m there.)
